In 1625, shortly after the Battle of White Mountain, the Jesuits received from Ferdinand II of Habsburg the Church of Saint Nicholas, a Gothic parish church founded in 1283. The rich interior decoration of Saint Nicholas' is one of the finest examples of the Baroque style in Prague.

The building known as Prague Castle is a series of vast structures whose history of over a thousand years invests them with a characterr of marked complexity. It incorporates a palace containing hundreds of apartments, Saint Vitus' Cathedral, Saint George's Basilica etc. In the cathedral the visitor can see the tomb of Saint John Nepomuk containing two tons of silver.

On Tuesday 21st of June we visited a small town called Cesky Krumlov. Our guide Antonio showed us around in this medieval town located in southern Bohemia. The town has retained its medieval charm to this day. The Renaissance castle has a fine collection of Flemish tapestries.

While Gökhan went for a ski holiday in Switzerland with his sister, Noël stayed a couple of days in Prague (17 - 19 of February 2006). Prague has some beautifull façades. The next day he went to visit Kutna Hora which is a city closely connected with the mining of silver ore. In the 13th century the mine at Kutna Hora provided one third of the total European silver production. The Italian Court used to be the royal mint where the Prague Gröschen was minted the name of which was changed during the reign of Ferdinand I into "tolar". Historians assume that the word "dollar" is coming from this medieval coin. Another peculiarity is the Church of All Saints, where the bones of 40.000 people are used to decorate the church. It's not a pleasant sight, I can assure you.

Another peculiarity is the Church of All Saints at Kutna Hora, where the bones of 40.000 people are used to decorate the church. It's not a pleasant sight. And although the town is on the list of the Unesco World Cultural Heritage, with all respect, I don't think it's all that worth visiting. Brugge or Ghent in Belgium are a thousand times more interesting to visit, I can assure you.
